Is a .restaurant or .menu domain worth it compared with .com?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
Usually no. Google says keywords in a domain name have hardly any effect on ranking, and a .com is cheaper to renew than .menu or .restaurant at the registrar checked.
- Google's guide says the ending matters only if you target one country, and even then it is a low-impact signal.
- At Porkbun on 30 September 2026, .com was $11.08 a year to register or renew.
- On the same list, .menu was $26.96 a year, and .restaurant was $12.87 the first year, then $52.01.
- Prices differ by registrar and change, so check the renewal price before you buy.
- Pick a short name that customers can spell and remember. That helps more than the ending.
