A cafe loyalty program that works at coffee prices
Updated October 19, 2026
The best cafe loyalty program is the one that rewards the order your customers actually place, and in many cafes that's a single drink. Menuthere gives you two layers. At the counter, a free printable stamp card ("buy 9, get the 10th free") with a QR code on the back that opens your menu. Online, a points program on the Pro plan (US$39 a month): each completed order on your ordering site, pre-orders included, earns a percentage back as points to spend next time. Customers need no app and no password, and you pay 0% commission.
In short
- Stamp card for single drinks: free to make, prints ten cards per A4 sheet, both sides, with your logo and reward.
- Points for bigger orders: a % of each completed order back as points, worth one unit of your currency each.
- Know the rounding: points are whole numbers rounded down, so a $4.50 coffee earns nothing at a 10% rate. Points shine on office runs, pre-orders and coffee-and-cake orders.
- Per-order deals for groups: "buy 4 coffees, get 1 free" works inside one order with Buy X get Y (Pro).
- No app, no card to lose: points sit on the customer's phone number when they sign in to order.
Stamp card or points: which suits a cafe?
| Paper stamp card | Points in Menuthere (Pro) | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | One drink at the counter | Online orders, pre-orders and bigger baskets |
| Reward | One free item after a set number of stamps (you choose 4 to 12) | A % of each order back, spent on any later order |
| Rewards a $4.50 latte? | Yes, one stamp | Not on its own: it rounds down to 0 points at 10% |
| Lost card? | Lost stamps | Nothing to lose; points belong to the signed-in customer |
| Cost to run | Printing | Included in Pro, US$39 a month |
| What you learn | Nothing | Who your regulars are, their balance and last visit |
Many cafes are best served by both: the card keeps counter regulars happy, and the QR code on the back moves them to ordering ahead, where points start to add up.
The rounding rule, and what it means for coffee
In Menuthere, a customer earns the order total times your earn rate, rounded down to whole points, and one point is worth one unit of your currency. That is simple and fair, but at cafe prices it matters:
| Order | 5% earn rate | 10% earn rate |
|---|---|---|
| One latte, $4.50 | 0 points | 0 points |
| Two drinks, $9.00 | 0 points | 0 points |
| Coffee and a pastry for two, $12.00 | 0 points | 1 point ($1) |
| Office run, $25.00 | 1 point | 2 points |
| Pre-ordered pastry box, $40.00 | 2 points | 4 points |
So don't sell points as "a reward on every coffee". Sell them as a reward on ordering ahead, group orders and treats. In currencies where one unit is worth less, such as a coffee priced at 15 or 300 units, rounding loses far less, because each point is a smaller step.
Converting your stamp card into a points rate. "Buy 9, get the 10th free" on a $4.50 coffee gives back $4.50 for every $40.50 spent, about 11%. A 10% earn rate on orders of $10 or more is in the same range, and costs you a similar share.
Set it up: counter first, then online
At the counter (free, no sign-up):
- Open the free loyalty stamp card maker. Add your cafe's name and logo, choose 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 or 12 stamps, and what earns a stamp.
- Write short rules for the back, such as "One stamp per drink. No cash value."
- Add your menu or order link: it prints a small QR code on the back of every card.
- Download the PDF: ten fronts, then ten backs, for double-sided A4 printing at 100%. Each card is 85 × 55 mm.
Online (Pro):
- Ask Menuthere support to enable loyalty points, then switch it on in Settings → Features.
- In Promotions → Loyalty → Settings, set rules for each order type. A cafe might give 10% on takeaway and 5% on dine-in, with a minimum order to earn of $10.
- Leave Max bill coverage at 100% if you're happy for points to pay a whole small order, or lower it to keep part of every bill in cash.
- Mark orders Completed: that's when points are given.
More ways to reward cafe regulars
| Idea | How in Menuthere | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| "Buy 4 coffees, get 1 free" on group orders | Buy X get Y: Buy items → 4 coffees → Free item: one they pick | Pro |
| A free cookie on orders over $15 | Free item discount with a minimum order value, set to apply itself | Pro |
| Morning pastry deal, Monday to Friday | A discount limited to the days you choose, with or without a code | Lite and above |
| Breakfast items only until 11:30 | Show dishes at set times, so they disappear from the menu after | Every plan |
Buy X get Y and free items reward one order, not repeat visits. Use them with points, not instead. Before you set any reward, check the margin on the drink you're giving away with the free drinks GP calculator.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best loyalty program for a cafe?
For single drinks at the counter, a stamp card is hard to beat. For online orders, pre-orders and bigger baskets, a points program rewards every order in proportion to its size. Many cafes use both: a free printable stamp card at the counter and points on Menuthere's Pro plan.
Can I make a coffee stamp card for free?
Yes. Menuthere's loyalty stamp card maker is free and needs no sign-up. Choose 4 to 12 stamps, add your logo and reward, and print ten cards per A4 sheet, front and back.
Why does a single coffee earn no points?
Points are whole numbers rounded down, and one point is worth one unit of your currency. At a 10% earn rate a $4.50 order earns 0.45, which rounds down to 0. Orders of $10 or more earn at least one point at that rate.
What earn rate matches buy 9, get the 10th free?
About 11%. Giving back one $4.50 coffee for every $40.50 spent is roughly 11% of spend, so a 10% earn rate costs a similar share.
Do customers need an app to collect points?
No. Points belong to customers who sign in with their phone number when they order on your Menuthere site. A guest order earns nothing.
Can I run buy 4 coffees, get 1 free?
Yes, inside one order, with a Buy X get Y discount on the Pro plan. It doesn't carry across visits; use points or a stamp card for that.
