QR code menu for F&B outlets in Singapore
Updated October 19, 2026
A QR code menu lets diners scan the code on the table, order on their phone and pay with PayNow or a card, so your staff stop running order slips. In Singapore it also has to quote prices the IRAS way: inclusive of 9% GST, unless you charge a service charge and say so. Menuthere shows GST-inclusive prices in Singapore dollars, takes PayNow and cards through your own Stripe account, and charges 0% commission. The digital menu, table codes and 50 orders a month are free.
In short
- GST-inclusive prices: IRAS says GST-registered businesses must display and quote prices inclusive of GST. Mark dishes tax inclusive at 9%.
- PayNow and cards: Menuthere's checkout uses Stripe and shows the methods you switch on. Stripe's PayNow fee is 1.3%; domestic cards are 3.4% + S$0.50.
- Service charge: Menuthere has no percentage service-charge line, so build it into your prices.
- Nutri-Grade: freshly prepared drinks graded C or D need the mark on physical and online menus, unless you're a small business exempted by MOH.
- Chinese and Tamil are in the Lite language button. Malay isn't, so type Malay names yourself if you need them.
Price display: what IRAS and CCCS expect
GST at 9%, shown inside the price. IRAS says GST-registered businesses must display and quote prices inclusive of GST; a format such as "$100 + GST" is not acceptable, and breaking the rule can bring a fine of up to $5,000.
The service-charge exception. IRAS lets F&B outlets that impose a service charge show prices before GST, if they display a prominent statement such as "Prices are subject to GST and service charge". GST is then charged on both the price and the service charge. The exception doesn't apply to outlets without a service charge, or with a nominal one used only to avoid GST-inclusive prices.
CCCS on drip pricing. The Competition and Consumer Commission's price transparency guidelines say mandatory charges, including service fees, should be included in the total headline price.
How to do this in Menuthere. Menuthere adds tax but has no separate percentage service-charge line at checkout. The simplest compliant setup is an all-in price:
- Under
Settings → Payments & tax, switch on Charge tax on orders at 9% and add your GST registration number. - Mark every dish Tax Inclusive. The menu price is what the diner pays, and checkout shows a GST (included) row.
- If you charge 10% service, fold it into each price, for example a S$20 dish becomes S$20 × 1.10 × 1.09 = S$23.98.
- Need a different price at outdoor or private-room tables? Use the dine-in price adjustment, which adds a fixed amount per item at the tables you choose.
See tax-inclusive prices.
Worked example: lunch for two in Tanjong Pagar
Two laksa at S$12.80 and two kopi at S$2.20, all-in prices including GST.
| Line | Paid by PayNow | Paid by card |
|---|---|---|
| Menu total, GST included | S$30.00 | S$30.00 |
| GST inside the price (9/109) | S$2.48 | S$2.48 |
| Stripe fee | S$0.39 (1.3%) | S$1.52 (3.4% + S$0.50) |
| Menuthere commission | S$0.00 | S$0.00 |
| You receive | S$29.61 | S$28.48 |
On small bills PayNow costs you much less than a card, so switch it on in your Stripe dashboard. Read more on Stripe's fees in Singapore.
PayNow, SGQR and cards at the table
MAS has said that SGQR is the primary means for scan-and-pay to merchants and that PayNow is the top payment scheme on SGQR. With Menuthere:
| Payment | How it works | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| PayNow | Through Stripe, when you switch PayNow on in your Stripe account. Menuthere's checkout doesn't fix the methods, so Stripe shows what you've enabled. | Lite |
| Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay | Stripe Checkout on your own account | Lite |
| GrabPay | Through Stripe if enabled (3.3%) | Lite |
| Your own SGQR sticker or NETS terminal at the counter | The diner orders by QR and pays at the counter. You mark the order paid. | Free |
Money goes to your own Stripe account, never through Menuthere. See connect Stripe.
Nutri-Grade marks for freshly made drinks
Since 30 December 2023, MOH's Nutri-Grade rules cover freshly prepared beverages sold by F&B outlets, caterers and digital platforms. Drinks graded C or D must carry the mark on physical or online menus. Businesses with revenue of not more than S$1 million and fewer than 10 food premises are exempt.
Menuthere has no Nutri-Grade field. If you must show it, add the grade to the drink's name or description, such as "Kopi (Nutri-Grade C)", and check MOH's rules on how the mark must look. You can also add calories, caffeine, sodium and allergens to each drink on any plan. See allergens and nutrition.
Chinese, Tamil and English on one menu
On Lite, the language button translates your menu text into Chinese (Simplified) and Tamil, plus Hindi, Japanese, Arabic and others. Prices stay the same. Malay isn't on the list, so type Malay names as each dish's second name, which works on every plan. For dishes like char kway teow or roti prata, keep the local name as the main name; automatic translation can mangle it. See menu in several languages and second names.
Same QR on your GrabFood and foodpanda bags
A sticker in every app bag sends regulars to your own menu next time. On a S$40 delivery order:
| Channel | Commission on S$40 |
|---|---|
| GrabFood, 30% standard (Grab's merchant page) | S$12.00 |
| foodpanda, about 25–35% | S$10.00–14.00 |
| Your own link, PayNow via Stripe | S$0.52 |
| Your own link, card via Stripe | S$1.86 |

FAQs
Must a Singapore QR menu show GST-inclusive prices?
Yes, if you're GST-registered. IRAS requires prices to be displayed and quoted inclusive of GST. F&B outlets with a service charge may show prices before GST only with a prominent statement such as "Prices are subject to GST and service charge".
Can diners pay with PayNow from a Menuthere QR menu?
Yes, on Lite with your own Stripe account, once you switch PayNow on in Stripe. Stripe charges 1.3% per PayNow payment.
Can Menuthere add a 10% service charge to QR orders?
Not as a separate percentage line. Build the service charge into your item prices, or add a fixed amount per item at chosen tables.
Do I need Nutri-Grade marks on my QR menu?
Only for freshly prepared drinks graded C or D, and only if your business isn't exempt. MOH exempts businesses with revenue of not more than S$1 million and fewer than 10 food premises.
Can my QR menu switch into Chinese or Tamil?
Yes, on Lite. The language button offers Chinese (Simplified) and Tamil among other languages. Malay isn't available, so add Malay names yourself.
What does Stripe charge in Singapore?
Stripe's standard price is 3.4% + S$0.50 per domestic card payment and 1.3% per PayNow payment. Menuthere adds no commission.
