Should I ask for a tip on WhatsApp orders?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
Do not ask for a tip in the order chat, because it feels pushy. If you allow one, mention it once as optional in the payment message.
- Keep the order chat about the food. Add a tip line only in the payment message.
- Say it is optional and say where it goes, for example to the rider or the kitchen team.
- Never add a tip to the total without asking. A surprise on the bill loses the customer.
- Thank customers who tip, and never mention it to those who do not.
- Write the final total in one clear message so the customer knows what to pay.
A clear total before the order is sent
On your Menuthere link the customer sees the total worked out before they send the order, so the bill is clear and you never bargain over extras in chat.
