Meituan says its commission in China, which it calls a technology service fee, is 6% to 8% of the order. Restaurants that use Meituan's riders also pay a separate delivery service fee on every order, priced by distance, order value and time of day, and Meituan doesn't publish that as a rate.

Worth knowing
National standard. A recommended national standard released in December 2025 groups delivery apps' fees into technology service, delivery service and promotion fees and asks platforms to publish them, to pay for their own promotions rather than pass the cost to restaurants through bundled tools or temporary fee rises, and to give at least 7 days' notice of a promotion. It is voluntary and sets no cap on commission.
Meituan split its single commission into the technology service fee and a separate delivery service fee in a reform that began in May 2021, and says it now covers most of its restaurants.
Restaurants can deliver themselves or use a third party, and then pay Meituan no delivery service fee. Large chains on its enterprise delivery service set their own delivery fee and pay the service fee on food and delivery combined.
JD.com entered food delivery in February 2025, offering a year without commission to restaurants that joined by 1 May 2025, and set off a price war with Meituan and Alibaba's Ele.me.
Meituan said it scrapped more than ten marketing campaigns in 2025, cutting restaurants' marketing spend by 1.62 billion yuan.
