VAT on the commission
Yes. Deliveroo's Italian terms say its service fees are subject to VAT (IVA) at the applicable rate, which is 22% in Italy. A VAT-registered business can usually deduct it.
Tablet and activation
Deliveroo's Italian terms say you buy the order tablet from Deliveroo at the price in your contract, and it becomes yours once the activation fee is paid in full.

Worth knowing
Offer pricing. You can't run a discount on the whole order if you raised the prices of the items in it by more than 5% in the 30 days before, and you can't raise them by more than 5% in the 30 days after it ends.
DoorDash completed its takeover of Deliveroo on 2 October 2025. The announcement didn't mention any change to restaurant fees.
