The rates
Commission is a percentage of the order, and who delivers it sets the rate. Here is what DoorDash publishes for restaurants in the US.
| Plan | DoorDash delivers | Pickup | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 15% | 6% | Reaches nearby customers. No commission for the first 7 days. |
| Plus | 25% | 6% | Reaches customers farther away, with a lower customer delivery fee and DashPass members. No commission for the first 30 days. |
| Premier | 30% | 6% | The widest delivery range, a $200 photo credit, and commission back in any of the first 6 months with fewer than 20 orders. No commission for the first 30 days. |
Card processing
Included in the commission: DoorDash charges no processing fee on marketplace delivery or pickup orders.
Activation and subscription
None. DoorDash lists no activation, sign-up, subscription or cancellation fees.
Tablet
Free during the trial, then $6 a week.
Error charges
25% to 100% of the item's price plus tax when an order is wrong or incomplete; 100% of the subtotal plus tax, minus commission, if the wrong order is handed to the driver.
Ads and promotions
Optional, and paid per order they bring in.
The calculator

One $30 order on DoorDash
DoorDash keeps 25.0% of every order — $2,250 a month, or $27,000 a year at your volume.
The same order on your own ordering page
Moving 90 orders a month (30%) to your own link keeps $594 a month in your business — $7,128 a year.
Figures are estimates from the numbers you enter. DoorDash agreements differ by plan, location and volume, and platforms change their fees, so your DoorDash payout statement is the source of truth. The direct column assumes every order is paid by card at about 3%; cash and pay-at-counter orders cost nothing. See how direct ordering works on commission-free online ordering.
Worth knowing
New York City. Delivery apps may charge at most 15% for delivery, 5% for basic service and 3% for card processing (or its actual cost). Since June 2025 they may also offer an optional enhanced service at up to 20% more.
San Francisco. Fees are capped at 15% an order, but a platform may charge more as long as it also offers every covered restaurant a delivery option at 15% or less. Chains are excluded.
Seattle. Fees for deliveries inside city limits are capped at 15%. A restaurant can pay more only for extra services, and only if a 15% package is also on offer.
The plans are for restaurants with 75 or fewer US locations, and the 6% pickup rate needs pickup prices that match your in-store prices.
DoorDash's online ordering for your own website charges no commission: card processing is 2.9% + $0.30 an order on its paid Boost ($99 a month) and Pro ($249 a month) tiers, or 3.3% + $0.30 on the free Starter tier.
A DoorDash alternative for your regulars
A delivery app is a good way to be found and an expensive way to serve people who already know you. Give your regulars your own ordering link, and the commission on their orders stays in your business.
