Worth knowing
Lieferando holds about 40–50% of Austria's delivery market and leads outside Vienna, while foodora holds about 50–60%, according to Austria's competition authority (BWB) in August 2026.
The BWB's inquiry, published in August 2026, found exclusivity deals, narrow best-price clauses in one platform's contracts and penalty fees of up to €10 in one platform's terms, without naming the platforms. It opened an investigation into suspected abuse of a dominant position, which foodora confirmed concerns it.
Prosus completed its takeover of Just Eat Takeaway.com, Lieferando's parent company, in October 2025.
