Card processing
Skip doesn't publish whether card processing sits inside its commission or is charged on top. Check your agreement.
GST/HST on the commission
Most likely. Skip doesn't say so on its restaurant pages, but it told the House of Commons finance committee in April 2024 that it collects and remits GST, HST and PST on its food ordering and delivery services in Canada. That's 5% GST, or 13% to 15% HST, depending on your province, and British Columbia charges 7% PST on online marketplace services.

SkipTheDishes agreements differ by plan, location and volume, and platforms change their fees, so your SkipTheDishes payout statement is the source of truth. Worth knowing
British Columbia. Since 1 January 2023, delivery platforms serving 500 or more restaurants must offer a base tier capped at 20% of the food and drink price, before tax and tips. A higher tier is allowed only if the restaurant turns the base tier down, and it can cancel on 7 days' notice.
Skip's own terms call its commission the “Network Contribution”.
Skip told Parliament in April 2024 that it has about 50,000 restaurant partners, well over British Columbia's 500-restaurant threshold for the 20% base tier.
In 2020, restaurant owners told CBC News that delivery apps' commission hovered at 20% to 30%, and Skip said it had set a 10% rate for restaurants delivering with their own staff during the pandemic. Skip doesn't publish a current self-delivery rate.
In January 2026, restaurant owners in London, Ontario told CBC News that delivery apps take from roughly 20% to as much as 30% of each order.
SkipGo, Skip's delivery service for orders taken on your own website, charges no commission: you pay a flat fee per order, which Deliverect puts at about CA$7 to CA$9.
