Does my restaurant need its own app, or is a website enough?
Updated 6 October 2026
For most restaurants a website is enough. Customers order in the browser with nothing to install, and can add it to their Home Screen so it opens like an app.
- On iPhone, add any website to the Home Screen from Safari's Share menu. With a web app manifest it opens like an app.
- Since iOS 16.4, web apps added to the Home Screen can send push notifications, after the customer taps to allow them.
- App cost: Apple Developer Program is US$99 a year. Google Play is a one-time US$25.
- Apple can reject an app that is just a repackaged website, so it needs real features.
Order from you with nothing to download
Customers order from your own Menuthere website with no download and 0% commission. A branded app with push order updates is also available for brands that want one.
