Should I charge customers for the rider's return trip?
Updated 5 October 2026
It is your choice. The rider has to come back, so some couriers count it. Uber Direct Australia charges the return trip at 50% of the delivery fee.
- You can add a round-trip charge to your delivery fee.
- Or build the return into a distance-based fee, so customers see one price.
- A round trip matters most on long deliveries, where the rider is away longest.
- Keep the fee fair, as customers compare it with delivery apps.
Decide what the ride back costs
Menuthere has an optional round-trip setting that doubles the delivery fee, so you choose whether customers pay for the ride back.
