Does my phone need to stay online for WhatsApp Web on WhatsApp Business?
Updated 3 October 2026
No. Linked devices work without your phone being online, but they log out if the phone is unused for more than 14 days.
- You can link up to four devices and one phone at a time.
- WhatsApp also disconnects linked devices after 30 days of inactivity.
- Live location, creating or viewing broadcast lists, and adding or deleting Status do not work on linked devices.
- Open the app on your phone every few days to keep laptops and tablets connected.
