How long does WhatsApp keep trying to deliver an order update to an offline customer?

By default WhatsApp retries a template message for up to 30 days, then drops it. On the API you can set a shorter time, which suits a “your food is ready” message.

• Default: 30 days for utility templates (order updates) and 30 days for marketing templates (offers).
• Utility templates: you can set the time from 30 seconds to 12 hours.
• Marketing templates: you can set the time from 12 hours to 30 days.
• After the time runs out the message is dropped. With no delivery confirmation, treat it as lost.
• A short time avoids a stale “food is ready” message arriving hours late.
