WhatsApp Channels, groups or broadcasts: which should a restaurant use?
Updated 30 September 2026
Use a broadcast list for offers to regulars who saved your number, a Channel for daily specials to anyone who follows, and a group only if you want customers talking to each other.
- Broadcast list: up to 256 contacts, and only people who saved your number. Replies come back as private chats.
- Channel: one-way updates to any number of followers. Followers do not see your profile name, picture or phone number.
- Group: everyone in it can take part in the conversation. A broadcast is one-to-many instead.
- Channels are still rolling out and may not be available to everyone. You cannot create a Community in the Business app.
