Why does WhatsApp ask for the country of origin on food items?

WhatsApp requires a country of origin on every catalog item, and in India it is one of the details needed to comply with the laws for selling online. You must pick it for each item you add or edit.

• Every catalog item needs a unique title, at least one image and a country of origin.
• If the origin is India, India is filled in for you.
• If the origin is another country, you also enter the importer's name and the importer's address.
• India sellers also add business details to their profile: legal name, business type, licence or registration, customer care and grievance officer.
• WhatsApp reviews each item before customers can see it.
