Why was my WhatsApp display name rejected?
Updated 30 September 2026
Your name broke Meta's display name guidelines. They rule out generic words, “Official” or “Verified”, Meta brand words, promo wording, and names with no clear link to your legal business name.
- Generic names such as “Fashion” or “New York” are rejected. Use the real name of your restaurant.
- Leave out “Official” and “Verified”, and any Meta, WhatsApp or Facebook word: “Minni's Muffins WhatsApp” is not accepted.
- No promotional wording (“20% off sale”) and no website or email address in the name.
- The name must clearly relate to your legal business name and be consistent with your branding elsewhere.
- Edit the name in WhatsApp Manager for a new check, or appeal via Developer Support. Limit: 10 changes per 30 days.
Keep taking orders while your name is reviewed
Customers can order from your Menuthere website or QR code and chat with you on WhatsApp in the meantime. Every order rings in your dashboard and partner app until you accept it.
