What is the difference between a payment gateway fee and a delivery app commission?
Updated 3 October 2026
A gateway fee pays for processing the payment. A commission is a share of the order for bringing the customer. On your own ordering page you pay the gateway fee and no commission.
- Gateway fees are set by the payment company. Stripe's US price is 2.9% + 30¢ per domestic card payment.
- In the UAE, Stripe lists 2.9% + AED 1.00 per domestic card payment.
- A delivery app sets its commission in its own contract, so read your agreement for the rate.
- Orders paid in cash or at the store do not go through a gateway.
Pay a gateway fee, never a commission
Menuthere takes 0% commission on every order. If you turn on online payments, only your payment gateway charges you, and cash or pay-at-store orders cost nothing extra.
