Can I add each customer's name to a WhatsApp offer?
Updated 30 September 2026
Yes. On the API, a template can hold a variable such as {{1}} that is filled with each customer's name. The Business app can also insert the receiver's name in a marketing message, where that feature is offered.
- API template variables are numbered {{1}}, {{2}} in order, and you must give sample values when you submit the template.
- A template can't start or end with a variable, and too many variables for a short message gets it rejected.
- A name doesn't change the category. An offer is a marketing message: ₹0.8631 per delivered message in India, AED 0.2115 in the UAE.
- In the Business app, marketing messages (called business broadcasts in some countries) are paid and not available everywhere yet.
- Send offers only to people who agreed to receive them.
