Do I need a PIN to register my restaurant's number on the WhatsApp API?
Updated 4 October 2026
Yes. Registering a number on the Cloud API needs a 6-digit PIN, which turns on two-step verification.
- PIN: 6 digits, set when you register the number.
- Cannot be switched off: the API has no endpoint to disable two-step verification.
- Store the PIN safely and share it only with your setup provider.
- Losing it can block later changes to the number.
