WhatsApp Business app or API: which does a restaurant need?
Updated 30 September 2026
Start with the free WhatsApp Business app. Move to the API when you want replies and order updates to go out automatically.
- App: free, one number, a phone plus up to 4 linked devices, everything typed by you.
- API: automatic menus, orders and updates, any number of staff, a fee per message.
- The app is not allowed for bulk or automated messaging; the API is built for it.
- App broadcasts reach up to 256 people who saved your number. The API can message anyone who opted in.
- You can keep your number when you move: providers offer “coexistence”, so the app keeps working.
Automatic WhatsApp ordering when you need it
Customers can order on your Menuthere website and chat with you on WhatsApp, with a copy of each order on your number. When you want it automatic, Menuthere puts the WhatsApp Business API on your own number.
