How do cafés use WhatsApp to get orders?
Updated 30 September 2026
Cafés use WhatsApp for takeaway pre-orders, table bookings and quick questions. Customers start a chat from a QR code, link or Google listing, and the café replies on the WhatsApp Business app or through the API.
- Order ahead: customers message their order and pickup time. Save your menu and pickup rules as quick replies, up to 50.
- Your WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with you. Put it on the counter or table; it does not expire unless you reset it.
- Google listing: add your WhatsApp Business number to your Google Business Profile and customers get a WhatsApp button in Search and Maps.
- Greeting message: the app can greet customers when they first message you, and again after 14 days without a chat.
Pre-orders and table orders for your café
Customers order ahead for takeaway or scan the QR code on a café table. The partner app rings until your team accepts each order, and scheduled pre-orders let customers choose a pickup time.
