How do customers pay for WhatsApp orders?
Updated 30 September 2026
In most countries payment happens outside the chat: cash, a payment link, or an ordering page. Customers can pay inside WhatsApp only in India, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia.
- Cash: cash on delivery or at pickup needs no set-up, but you collect and match it yourself.
- Payment link: send a link from your payment provider. The customer pays on the provider's page, so the chat holds no card details.
- In India: the API's Payments feature lets customers pay with UPI apps, cards, NetBanking or wallets from the order message in the chat.
- In Brazil: Pix codes, payment links, boleto and card payments are supported.
- Never ask customers to type card or bank account numbers in the chat. WhatsApp's policy bans it.
Get paid online, straight to your account
Customers pay online on your Menuthere ordering page, by card or UPI, and the money goes to your own account on the payment gateway you connect. Cash, pay on pickup and your own payment link work too.
