The short answer
An online ordering system lets customers order and pay from your own website or table QR code, and sends each order to your dashboard and phone. In Australia the choice is between a marketplace such as Uber Eats or DoorDash, which charges a percentage of every order, and your own ordering site, which charges a software fee and a card fee.
What the apps take
Both publish their Australian rates. The fee-on-an-order row is arithmetic on an A$40 order, before GST on the fee.

Uber Eats rates as published on 25 September 2026 (pickup was 6% in July 2026). DoorDash rates as published on its page on 19 May 2026. Your own agreement has your rates. On 300 delivered orders of A$40 a month, 30% is A$3,600 and a direct card order at 1.65% + A$0.30 is A$288. Menulog stopped taking orders in Australia on 26 November 2025 and sent its users to Uber Eats, which offered ex-Menulog restaurants 0% on delivery for 180 days. What a direct order costs
Stripe's standard online price for Australia is 1.70% + A$0.30 on a domestic card, falling to 1.65% + A$0.30 from 1 October 2026. International cards are 3.50% + A$0.30, falling to 2.80% + A$0.30 from 1 April 2027. Stripe adds 2% when currency conversion is needed. Fees include GST, and Stripe lists no setup, monthly or closure fees. Stripe says the cut passes on the Reserve Bank of Australia's lower interchange caps.
Menuthere takes none of that. You connect your own Stripe account, which Stripe opens in Australia, and the money goes to you. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay checkout needs Lite. On the free plan customers pay cash or at pickup, or you share a payment link or bank details.
The RBA decided on 31 March 2026 that from 1 October 2026 merchants can no longer surcharge eftpos, Mastercard and Visa debit, prepaid and credit cards. It does not treat online payments differently from in-person ones. American Express and buy now pay later were left for a later review. Many owners will price the card cost into menu prices. What you get
Over 600 restaurants run their own ordering website on Menuthere. The customer menu opens in the phone's browser, so nobody has to download an app.
Takeaway and pickup, delivery and dine-in orders from one link. Sizes, variants and add-ons on every plan. Import your menu from a photo, PDF, Instagram or Google link. Set A$ as the currency and your Australian timezone.
Orders land in your dashboard and in the partner app for Android and iPhone, which rings until you accept. Auto-accept is available, staff logins are unlimited, and customers see a live order-status page.
On Lite, draw your delivery areas on a map and set fees by distance. Pro adds a riders app with live tracking for your own riders. Menuthere does not book Uber Direct or DoorDash Drive couriers.
Diners scan, order and the order reaches you. A dashboard setting can check the diner is at the restaurant first. A second order from the same table joins the open bill. See table ordering.
Enter your tax rate and tax number in Settings and the bill shows a GST line. Your own accountant decides how it applies to your menu prices.
Free: 50 orders a month, then the menu is view-only until the 1st or you upgrade. Lite, US$9 a month: unlimited orders, own domain, scheduled orders, coupons, cards on your Stripe. Pro, US$39 a month: WhatsApp on your own number, loyalty, riders app, several outlets. Lite and Pro have a 7-day free trial.
The honest part
Menuthere does not connect to Australian POS systems such as Square, Lightspeed, Oolio, Abacus or Redcat. The only POS it connects to is Petpooja, an India product. It has its own basic POS as an add-on for counter billing. If you need online orders to print through your existing POS, use that vendor's ordering. It does not take in Uber Eats or DoorDash orders. Those stay on their tablets and Menuthere orders come to the Menuthere dashboard, so you can run both side by side. You can keep the apps for new customers and send regulars to your own link. Read your agreement first: Uber's Australian terms allow 7 days' notice to end, and DoorDash's merchant terms also say 7 days.
