How do I get customers to agree to WhatsApp offers?
Updated 30 September 2026
Ask clearly, name your restaurant and say they will receive offers on WhatsApp. Opt-in is required before you message people, so do not treat a customer's first message as permission for offers.
- The request must clearly say the person is opting in to messages from you, and name your restaurant.
- WhatsApp lists these ways to ask: SMS, your website, a phone call (IVR), or in person or on paper. You choose.
- Opt-in can be general, not WhatsApp-specific, as long as you follow local laws.
- Ask separately for offers and for order updates, so a customer can say yes to one and no to the other.
- Give a clear way to stop. You must respect any request to opt out, on or off WhatsApp.
Give customers a reason to say yes
Menuthere offers loyalty points, buy X get Y deals and coupons, and sends broadcasts and comeback messages from your own WhatsApp number. Offers worth having make it easier to ask.
