Should I put numbers next to dishes on my WhatsApp menu?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
Yes, for a short menu. Numbers make ordering quick, but keep the dish name beside each number and change the numbers as little as you can.
- A customer can write 3 x 2 and 5 x 1, which is faster than typing full names.
- Always repeat the dish name when you confirm: 2 x No. 3, Paneer Roll.
- Never reuse an old number for a new dish. Old messages in the chat will point to the wrong food.
- Over about 30 dishes, group the menu with headings instead of one long numbered list.
- Send the same numbered menu to everyone, so no two customers see different numbers.
Skip the numbers with a menu page
Your Menuthere page shows each dish with its name, photo and price. Customers tap what they want, so numbers and typing mistakes are not needed.
