For Norwegian restaurants and takeaways
An online ordering system lets customers order and pay on your own website, so you keep the order and the customer. Menuthere gives restaurants, takeaways and cafés in Norway one menu for collection, delivery and table orders, with prices in Norwegian krone and 0% commission on every plan.
Free plan: 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Paid plans from US$17 a month. Find your restaurant on Google to start.

What it does
It has two halves. The customer side is a mobile-friendly menu on your own link or domain: customers pick dishes, sizes and extras, choose collection or delivery, and pay by card or on collection. The kitchen side is where orders land, on a dashboard, a phone app and a kitchen printer, so staff can accept, cook and mark the order ready.
The difference from Wolt or foodora is who owns the customer. On an app, the platform keeps the relationship and takes a share of every order. On your own system, the customer orders from you and you see their name and number. Most Norwegian owners keep the apps for new customers and use their own page (an *online bestillingssystem*) for regulars.
What the apps charge
Neither Wolt nor foodora publishes its Norwegian commission; the figures below are approximate, from a Norwegian ordering-software firm's April 2026 guide and from Oslo restaurant owners quoted by Avisa Oslo in 2025. Each restaurant's rate is set in its own agreement. We found no legal cap on delivery-app commission in Norway.
| Platform | Reported commission | What drives it | Joining fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wolt | About 28–35% (reported) | 28–32% for small restaurants (SE MENY); up to 35% per Oslo owners; +3% on Wolt+ orders; reduced on pickup | No fee to join, Wolt says; commission only on completed orders |
| foodora | About 28–35% (reported) | 28–30% on terms like Wolt's (SE MENY); up to 35% per Oslo owners; +3% on foodora pro orders | No published joining fee; check your contract |
These are approximate figures from public reports, not published rate cards, so check the rate in your own agreement. Uber Eats announced a Norway launch for 2026 but paused it in July 2026. Full breakdowns: Wolt commission in Norway and foodora commission in Norway.
Worked example
An Oslo takeaway does 300 orders a month at an average of 350 kr: 105,000 kr in sales. Here is what each channel costs in a month and a year. App commission is worked at 31.5% (the middle of the 28–35% reported), and MVA on the app fee is worked at Norway's standard 25% rate.
| Channel | Fee | MVA on fee (25%) | Total a month | A year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wolt or foodora (≈31.5%) | 33,075 kr | 8,268.75 kr | ≈41,343.75 kr | ≈496,125 kr |
| App at the low end (28%) | 29,400 kr | 7,350 kr | ≈36,750 kr | ≈441,000 kr |
| App at the high end (35%) | 36,750 kr | 9,187.50 kr | ≈45,937.50 kr | ≈551,250 kr |
| Your own system (Menuthere Lite + Stripe) | US$17 plan + ≈3,120 kr card fees | No commission, so no MVA on commission | ≈3,120 kr + US$17 | ≈37,440 kr + US$204 (or US$170 on yearly billing) |
Stripe's Norwegian/EEA card rate is 2.4% + 2.00 kr, so a 350 kr order costs about 10.40 kr. If you're MVA-registered you can usually reclaim the MVA on app fees, but the commission itself is gone.
Norwegian MVA
Norway has three main MVA (VAT) bands. Foodstuffs and takeaway food are at the reduced 15% rate, but the serving of food for dine-in (restaurant service) is at the standard 25% rate, as are most drinks and app fees. So the same dish can be 15% as takeaway and 25% eaten in. Menuthere lets each dish carry its own rate, so one bill can mix them. Set your MVA per dish.
| Line | Price (MVA included) | MVA rate | MVA inside the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × burger meal (takeaway food) | 290 kr | 15% | 37.83 kr |
| 1 × soft drink | 35 kr | 25% | 7.00 kr |
| Delivery fee | 33 kr | set per store | — |
| Total | 358 kr | 44.83 kr |
In Menuthere, set the store rate to 15%, mark dishes Tax Inclusive for takeaway food, and give drinks and any dine-in service a 25% rate. Takeaway food is 15% but food served for dine-in is 25%, so if you sell both, set the dine-in menu's dishes to 25%. Menuthere doesn't add MVA to the delivery fee line, so set your delivery fee as an MVA-inclusive amount and ask your accountant how to record it. See tax and VAT settings.
How it works
Menuthere pulls your name, address and photos from your Google listing. Set the currency to NOK and the timezone to Oslo.
Upload a photo or PDF and the AI reads in the dishes and prices. Sizes, add-ons and sold-out marking are built in. Moving from GloriaFood? Import that menu directly; it closes on 30 April 2027.
Collection, delivery and dine-in table orders, all from one menu.
Cash or pay on collection on Free. Your own Stripe account for card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay on Lite and above.
On your Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, flyers and receipts. Print the free QR codes for the counter and tables.
Each order rings on the partner app until someone accepts it, or switch on auto-accept. Tickets print to your kitchen printer.
Norwegian rules
Allergen information. Under the Norwegian food-information regulation (matinformasjonsforskriften), which implements EU Regulation 1169/2011, you must make allergen information available for food that isn't prepacked, including food sold for delivery and collection. For distance (online and phone) orders the information must be available before the purchase is completed, at no extra cost, and again when the food is delivered. On Menuthere, tag the 14 allergens on each dish on every plan, including Free, and customers see them when they open the dish. Add a printed allergen sheet to delivery bags too: make one with the allergen chart maker.
Prices including MVA. Norwegian consumer-pricing rules require prices shown to consumers to include MVA and any unavoidable charges, so the price a customer sees is the price they pay. State any service, minimum-order or delivery charge clearly before checkout.
Receipts and cash registers. Norway's cash-register (kassasystem) and bookkeeping rules require a compliant receipt for sales. Menuthere records every order and its MVA so you can reconcile online sales with your cash-register and accounts; confirm your set-up with your accountant.
No card surcharges. Under the EEA payment-services rules (PSD2, in force in Norway through the EEA agreement), businesses can't add a surcharge for paying by consumer debit or credit card. Build card costs into your prices rather than adding a fee at checkout.
Card payments
Stripe is available in Norway and charges in Norwegian krone, so customers pay by card into your own Stripe account. Menuthere never touches your money. Stripe charges its own fee, with no setup or monthly fee on standard pricing, and Menuthere adds nothing on top. A dispute costs 200 kr, and currency conversion adds 2%.
| Card type | Stripe Norway rate | Per 350 kr order | 300 orders a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Norwegian and EEA cards | 2.4% + 2.00 kr | 10.40 kr | 3,120 kr |
| International cards | 3.25% + 2.00 kr | 13.38 kr | 4,012.50 kr |
| Currency conversion | +2% on the above | — | — |
Most Norwegian customers pay with Norwegian or EEA cards at 2.4% + 2.00 kr. Vipps is the most popular way to pay in Norway, but Stripe does not offer Vipps as an integrated method, so card payments run through Stripe with Apple Pay and Google Pay at the same card rates once you switch them on. Confirm current rates on Stripe's Norway pricing page before you sign.
