For Belgian restaurants and takeaways
An online ordering system lets customers order and pay on your own website, so you keep the order and the customer. Menuthere gives restaurants, takeaways and cafés across Flanders and Wallonia one menu for collection, delivery and table orders, with prices in euro and 0% commission on every plan.
Free plan: 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Paid plans from US$17 a month. Find your restaurant on Google to start.

What it does
It has two halves. The customer side is a mobile-friendly menu on your own link or domain: customers pick dishes, sizes and extras, choose collection or delivery, and pay by card or on collection. The kitchen side is where orders land, on a dashboard, a phone app and a kitchen printer, so staff can accept, cook and mark the order ready.
The difference from Uber Eats, Takeaway.com or Deliveroo is who owns the customer. On an app, the platform keeps the relationship and takes a share of every order, plus 21% VAT on that share. On your own system, the customer orders from you and you see their name and number. Most Belgian owners keep the apps for new customers and use their own page for regulars.
What the apps charge
Published or reported rates, checked in September and October 2026. Belgian law puts no cap on delivery-app commission, and the apps add 21% VAT to their fees on top. Uber Eats, Takeaway.com and Deliveroo all operate in Belgium; only Uber Eats publishes a clear rate card.
| Platform | They deliver | You deliver or collection | Other fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uber Eats | 30% (33% on Uber One orders) | 13% (15% on Uber One orders); 13% on pickup | €3.99 a week; card processing included |
| Takeaway.com | Not published; negotiated per restaurant | Not published | Setup and device options vary |
| Deliveroo | Not published; reported at about 25–35% | Not published | Depends on your device option |
Uber Eats works its percentage out on the item price including VAT. Full breakdown with sources: Uber Eats commission in Belgium. Takeaway.com and Deliveroo negotiate rates case by case, so check your agreement.
Worked example
A Brussels takeaway does 300 orders a month at an average of €25: €7,500 in sales. Here is what each channel costs in a month and a year. VAT on the app fees is worked out at Belgium's standard 21%.
| Channel | Fee | VAT on fee (21%) | Total a month | A year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uber Eats delivers (30%) | €2,250 + €3.99/week | €472.50 | about €3,139 | about €37,674 |
| Uber Eats, you deliver (13%) | €975 + €3.99/week | €204.75 | about €1,197 | about €14,369 |
| Your own system (Menuthere Lite + Stripe standard EEA cards) | US$17 plan + about €150 card fees | No commission, so no VAT on commission | about €150 + US$17 | about €1,800 + US$204 (or US$170 on yearly billing) |
Stripe's standard rate for EEA cards is 1.5% + €0.25, so a €25 order costs about €0.63 — roughly €188 across 300 orders. The €3.99 weekly Uber Eats subscription is about €17.29 a month. If you're VAT-registered you can usually reclaim the VAT on app fees, but the commission itself is gone.
Belgian VAT
Belgium runs several rates. Restaurant and catering services (dine-in) are at the 12% reduced rate, takeaway food is at 6%, and all drinks — soft drinks and alcohol alike — are at the standard 21%. Menuthere lets each dish carry its own rate, so one bill can mix them, and the rate can follow whether the order is dine-in or takeaway.
| Line | Price (VAT included) | VAT rate | VAT inside the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pasta, eaten in (catering) | €16.00 | 12% | €1.71 |
| Same dish, takeaway food | €16.00 | 6% | €0.91 |
| Cola or beer (any drink) | €4.00 | 21% | €0.69 |
| Takeaway total (food + drink) | €20.00 | €1.60 |
In Menuthere, mark dishes Tax Inclusive, set food to 6% for takeaway or 12% for dine-in, and give every drink 21%. Menuthere doesn't add VAT to the delivery fee line, so set your delivery fee as a VAT-inclusive amount and ask your accountant how to record it. The split between the 6% takeaway rate and the 12% catering rate turns on whether food is consumed on the premises, so a dish can carry a different rate for collection than for a table order. See tax and VAT settings.
How it works
Menuthere pulls your name, address and photos from your Google listing. Set the currency to EUR and the timezone to Brussels.
Upload a photo or PDF and the AI reads in the dishes and prices, in Dutch or French. Sizes, add-ons and sold-out marking are built in. Moving from GloriaFood? Import that menu directly; it closes on 30 April 2027.
Collection, delivery and dine-in table orders, all from one menu.
Cash or pay on collection on Free. Your own Stripe account for card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay on Lite and above.
On your Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, flyers and receipts. Print the free QR codes for the counter and tables.
Each order rings on the partner app until someone accepts it, or switch on auto-accept. Tickets print to your kitchen printer.
Belgian rules
Allergen information. EU Regulation 1169/2011 applies in Belgium: the 14 major allergens must be declared for non-prepacked food, including food sold for distance ordering. Belgium's rule allows this information to be given orally, as long as a clearly visible notice tells customers it is available and where — but giving it in writing is the safest way to comply, and it is what customers expect online. On Menuthere, tag the 14 allergens on each dish on every plan, including Free, so the written information is on the menu before the order. Add a printed allergen sheet to delivery bags with the allergen chart maker.
Prices include VAT. Prices shown to consumers must include VAT and all compulsory charges, so display every price VAT-inclusive and state any service or minimum charge alongside the prices.
No card surcharges. Under the EU payment services rules (PSD2), businesses can't add a surcharge for paying by consumer debit or credit card. Build card costs into your prices rather than charging a fee at checkout.
Dutch and French menus. Belgium is multilingual: Flanders is Dutch-speaking (Flemish), Wallonia is French-speaking (Walloon), with a small German-speaking community in the east. In Brussels both Dutch and French are official. Many owners publish the menu in the language of their region and often a second language too. Menuthere stores one menu; keep item names and descriptions in the language your customers read.
Card payments
Stripe is available in Belgium. Menuthere never touches your money: Stripe charges its own fee, with no setup or monthly fee on standard pricing, and Menuthere adds nothing on top. Currency conversion adds about 2%, and a dispute costs €15.
| Card type | Stripe Belgium rate | Per €25 order | 300 orders a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard EEA cards | 1.5% + €0.25 | €0.63 | €188.25 |
| Premium EEA cards | 1.9% + €0.25 | €0.73 | €217.50 |
| UK cards | 2.5% + €0.25 | €0.88 | €262.50 |
| International cards | 3.25% + €0.25 | €1.06 | €318.75 |
Most Belgian customers pay with Belgian-issued standard EEA cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay ride on the same card rates once you switch them on in Stripe. See online payments.
