For Greek restaurants and takeaways
An online ordering system lets customers order and pay on your own website, so you keep the order and the customer. Menuthere gives restaurants, tavernas and takeaways in Greece one menu for collection, delivery and table orders, with prices in euro and 0% commission on every plan. Customers searching "σύστημα online παραγγελιών εστιατόριο" or "online παραγγελίες εστιατόριο" can order straight from you.
Free plan: 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Paid plans from US$17 a month, with a 14-day free trial. Find your restaurant on Google to start.

What it does
It has two halves. The customer side is a mobile-friendly menu on your own link or domain: customers pick dishes, sizes and extras, choose collection or delivery, and pay by card or on collection. The kitchen side is where orders land, on a dashboard, a phone app and a kitchen printer, so staff can accept, cook and mark the order ready.
The difference from efood, Wolt or Box is who owns the customer. On an app, the platform keeps the relationship and takes a share of every order, plus 24% VAT on that share. On your own system, the customer orders from you and you see their name and number. Most Greek owners keep the apps for new customers and use their own page for regulars.
What the apps charge
Neither efood nor Wolt publishes its commission in Greece; each restaurant's rate is set in its contract. The figures below are approximate, from Greek press reports in 2020 and 2024. Both charge their commission plus VAT, and Greece's standard rate is 24%. We found no legal cap on delivery-app commission in Greece.
| Platform | Reported commission | Card fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| efood | About 20–30% (approximate) | Not published | Delivery Hero-owned and the dominant Greek app; 75–85% of platform orders in H1 2021 |
| Wolt | About 20–30% (approximate) | Not published | 2020 report: 24–26% plus VAT; growing share of the market |
Greek press reported in 2024 that small restaurants pay 27–30% on both efood and Wolt, while platform executives called 30% an exaggeration but said rates top 20% in some cases, such as when the platform delivers. A 2020 report put efood at 22–25% plus VAT for its own delivery and Wolt at 24–26% plus VAT. Treat these as approximate and check your own contract. Full breakdowns: efood commission in Greece and Wolt fees in Greece.
Worked example
A restaurant does 300 orders a month at an average of €20: €6,000 in sales. Here is what each channel costs in a month and a year. VAT on the app fees is worked out at 24%, and commission is taken at 25% (the middle of the 20–30% reported for efood and Wolt).
| Channel | Fee | VAT on fee (24%) | Total a month | A year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| efood (~25%) | €1,500 | €360 | €1,860 | €22,320 |
| Wolt (~25%) | €1,500 | €360 | €1,860 | €22,320 |
| Your own system (Menuthere Lite + Stripe standard EEA cards) | US$17 plan + €135 card fees | No commission, so no VAT on commission | about €135 + US$17 | about €1,620 + US$204 (or US$170 on yearly billing) |
Stripe's standard rate for EEA cards is 1.5% + €0.25, so a €20 order costs €0.55 and 300 orders cost about €135 a month. If you're VAT-registered you can usually reclaim the VAT on app fees, but the commission itself is gone. Enter the rate in your own efood or Wolt contract to work out your real figure.
Greek VAT (ΦΠΑ)
In Greece the standard VAT rate (ΦΠΑ) is 24%. Restaurant and catering services are at the 13% reduced rate, while standard-rated items, such as the app fees themselves, are at 24%. Some Greek islands carry further reduced rates, so confirm your local rate with your accountant. Menuthere lets each dish carry its own rate, so one bill can mix them.
| Line | Price (VAT included) | VAT rate | VAT inside the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × souvlaki plate (food service) | €17.00 | 13% | €1.96 |
| 1.5 litre soft drink | €3.50 | 24% | €0.68 |
| Greek salad | €4.00 | 13% | €0.46 |
| Delivery fee | €0.00 | — | €0.00 |
| Total | €24.50 | €3.10 |
In Menuthere, set the store rate to 13% for restaurant and food service, mark dishes Tax Inclusive, and give standard-rated items a 24% rate. If you deliver on some islands with reduced rates, confirm the exact rate with your accountant. Menuthere doesn't add VAT to the delivery fee line, so set your delivery fee as a VAT-inclusive amount and ask your accountant how to record it. See tax and VAT settings.

Greek rules
Allergen information. Under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on food information to consumers, the 14 major allergens must be declared. For food that isn't prepacked, including dishes sold for delivery or takeaway, the information must be available to the customer before they buy. On Menuthere, tag the 14 allergens on each dish on every plan, including Free, so customers see them when they open the dish, before the order is placed.
Prices and charges. Greek consumer rules require prices shown to customers to be clear and to include VAT. Any cover, service or minimum charge must be stated with the prices. Menuthere shows prices in euro with VAT included, and any extra charge as its own line at checkout.
The receipt. Businesses in Greece must issue an electronic receipt and report it to the tax authority (AADE) through the myDATA system. Menuthere is your ordering channel, not your fiscal recorder, so keep issuing your receipts through your registered system as usual and reconcile online orders with them.
No card surcharges. Under the EU payment services rules (PSD2), businesses in Greece can't add a surcharge for paying by standard consumer debit or credit card. Build card costs into your prices.
Service charge
A service or cover charge that appears on the bill is part of the price of the meal and is taxed at the same VAT rate as the meal, generally 13% for restaurant and food service. Voluntary tips a customer adds freely are outside VAT.
Menuthere's optional service charge is a percentage of the food, shown at checkout as its own line that the customer can remove. If you use one in Greece, open `Settings → Payments & tax → Tips & service charge` and switch on Charge tax on the service charge so your store's rate is added to it. Tips customers add at checkout are never taxed. See tips and service charge.
Card payments
Stripe is available in Greece. Menuthere never touches your money: Stripe charges its own fee, with no setup or monthly fee on standard pricing, and Menuthere adds nothing on top. Currency conversion adds 2%, and a dispute costs €15.
| Card type | Stripe Greece rate | Per €20 order | 300 orders a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard EEA cards | 1.5% + €0.25 | €0.55 | €165.00 |
| Premium EEA cards | 1.9% + €0.25 | €0.63 | €189.00 |
| UK cards | 2.5% + €0.25 | €0.75 | €225.00 |
| International cards | 3.25% + €0.25 | €0.90 | €270.00 |
Most Greek customers pay with Greek-issued, standard EEA cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay work once you switch them on in Stripe. Check the current rates on Stripe's Greece pricing page before you rely on them.
