For Italian restaurants and takeaways
An online ordering system lets customers order and pay on your own website, so you keep the order and the customer. Menuthere gives restaurants, pizzerias and takeaways in Italy one menu for collection, delivery and table orders, with prices in euro and 0% commission on every plan. Customers searching "sistema di ordinazione online ristorante" or "ordini online ristorante" can order straight from you.
Free plan: 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Paid plans from US$17 a month, with a 14-day free trial. Find your restaurant on Google to start.

What it does
It has two halves. The customer side is a mobile-friendly menu on your own link or domain: customers pick dishes, sizes and extras, choose collection or delivery, and pay by card or on collection. The kitchen side is where orders land, on a dashboard, a phone app and a kitchen printer, so staff can accept, cook and mark the order ready.
The difference from Glovo, Deliveroo or Just Eat is who owns the customer. On an app, the platform keeps the relationship and takes a share of every order, plus 22% IVA on that share. On your own system, the customer orders from you and you see their name and number. Most Italian owners keep the apps for new customers and use their own page for regulars.
What the apps charge
Published or reported rates, checked in September and October 2026. All three add IVA to their fees, and Italy's standard rate is 22%. We found no legal cap on delivery-app commission in Italy.
| Platform | They deliver | You deliver or pickup | Joining fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glovo | 30% (published small-business rate) | 15% on pickup (published) | €200 + IVA activation, once |
| Deliveroo | Not published. Reported at about 25–35% | Not published | Order tablet bought from Deliveroo |
| Just Eat | Not published. Reported about 25–30% | About 14–18% when you deliver | None, according to its sign-up page |
Glovo publishes its small-business rate; Deliveroo and Just Eat set each rate in your contract, so treat the reported ranges as approximate. Full breakdowns: Glovo commission in Italy, Deliveroo fees in Italy and Just Eat commission in Italy.
Worked example
A restaurant does 300 orders a month at an average of €25: €7,500 in sales. Here is what each channel costs in a month and a year. IVA on the app fees is worked out at 22%.
| Channel | Fee | IVA on fee (22%) | Total a month | A year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glovo delivers (30%) | €2,250 | €495 | €2,745 | €32,940 |
| Deliveroo delivers (~30%) | €2,250 | €495 | €2,745 | €32,940 |
| Just Eat, own couriers (~15%) | €1,125 | €247.50 | €1,372.50 | €16,470 |
| Your own system (Menuthere Lite + Stripe standard EEA cards) | US$17 plan + €150 card fees | No commission, so no IVA on commission | about €150 + US$17 | about €1,800 + US$204 (or US$170 on yearly billing) |
Stripe's standard rate for EEA cards is 1.5% + €0.25, so a €25 order costs about €0.63 and 300 orders cost about €150 a month. If you're IVA-registered you can usually reclaim the IVA on app fees, but the commission itself is gone.
Italian IVA
In Italy the standard IVA rate is 22%. Restaurant and catering services and most takeaway food are generally at the 10% reduced rate, while some basic foods are at 4%; alcoholic and soft drinks vary, and many are standard-rated. Menuthere lets each dish carry its own rate, so one bill can mix them.
| Line | Price (IVA included) | IVA rate | IVA inside the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × pizza margherita | €18.00 | 10% | €1.64 |
| 1.5 litre cola | €3.50 | 22% | €0.63 |
| Dessert | €6.00 | 10% | €0.55 |
| Delivery fee | €2.50 | 22% | €0.45 |
| Total | €30.00 | €3.27 |
In Menuthere, set the store rate to 10% for food and catering, mark dishes Tax Inclusive, and give drinks that are standard-rated a 22% rate. Confirm the exact rate for each item with your accountant (some basic foods are 4%, and drinks vary). Menuthere doesn't add IVA to the delivery fee line, so set your delivery fee as an IVA-inclusive amount and ask your accountant how to record it. See tax and VAT settings.
How it works
Menuthere pulls your name, address and photos from your Google listing. Set the currency to EUR and the timezone to Rome.
Upload a photo or PDF and the AI reads in the dishes and prices. Sizes, add-ons and sold-out marking are built in. Moving from GloriaFood? Import that menu directly; it closes on 30 April 2027.
Collection, delivery and dine-in table orders, all from one menu.
Cash or pay on collection on Free. Your own Stripe account for card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay on Lite and above.
On your Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, flyers and receipts. Print the free QR codes for the counter and tables.
Each order rings on the partner app until someone accepts it, or switch on auto-accept. Tickets print to your kitchen printer.
Italian rules
Allergen information. Under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on food information to consumers, the 14 major allergens must be declared. For food that isn't prepacked, including dishes sold for delivery or takeaway, the information must be available to the customer before they buy. On Menuthere, tag the 14 allergens on each dish on every plan, including Free, so customers see them when they open the dish, before the order is placed.
Prices and charges. Italian consumer rules require prices shown to customers to be clear and to include IVA, and any cover charge (coperto), service charge or minimum charge to be stated with the prices. Menuthere shows prices in euro with IVA included, and any extra charge as its own line at checkout.
The receipt. For each sale a restaurant in Italy issues a commercial receipt (documento commerciale, the scontrino) through a registered electronic recorder or the Agenzia delle Entrate system. Menuthere is your ordering channel, not your fiscal recorder, so keep issuing your scontrino as usual and reconcile online orders with it.
No card surcharges. Under the EU payment services rules, businesses in Italy can't add a surcharge for paying by standard consumer debit or credit card. Build card costs into your prices.
Service charge
A cover charge (coperto) or service charge that appears on the bill is part of the price of the meal and is taxed at the same IVA rate as the meal, generally 10% for restaurant and catering. Voluntary tips a customer adds freely are outside IVA.
Menuthere's optional service charge is a percentage of the food, shown at checkout as its own line that the customer can remove. If you use one in Italy, open `Settings → Payments & tax → Tips & service charge` and switch on Charge tax on the service charge so your store's rate is added to it. Tips customers add at checkout are never taxed. See tips and service charge.
Card payments
Stripe is available in Italy. Menuthere never touches your money: Stripe charges its own fee, with no setup or monthly fee on standard pricing, and Menuthere adds nothing on top. Currency conversion adds 2%, and a dispute costs €15.
| Card type | Stripe Italy rate | Per €25 order | 300 orders a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard EEA cards | 1.5% + €0.25 | €0.63 | €187.50 |
| Premium EEA cards | 1.9% + €0.25 | €0.73 | €217.50 |
| UK cards | 2.5% + €0.25 | €0.88 | €262.50 |
| International cards | 3.25% + €0.25 | €1.06 | €318.75 |
Most Italian customers pay with Italian-issued, standard EEA cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay work once you switch them on in Stripe. Check the current rates on Stripe's Italy pricing page before you rely on them.
