For Austrian restaurants and takeaways
An online ordering system lets customers order and pay on your own website, so you keep the order and the customer. Menuthere gives restaurants, takeaways and cafés in Austria one menu for collection, delivery and table orders, with prices in euro and 0% commission on every plan.
Free plan: 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Paid plans from US$17 a month. Find your restaurant on Google to start.

What it does
It has two halves. The customer side is a mobile-friendly menu on your own link or domain: customers pick dishes, sizes and extras, choose collection or delivery, and pay by card or on collection. The kitchen side is where orders land, on a dashboard, a phone app and a kitchen printer, so staff can accept, cook and mark the order ready.
The difference from Lieferando, foodora or Wolt is who owns the customer. On an app, the platform keeps the relationship and takes a share of every order. On your own system, the customer orders from you and you see their name and number. Most Austrian owners keep the apps for new customers and use their own page for regulars.
What the apps charge
Reported rates, checked in September 2026. Neither platform publishes its Austrian commission, so the figures below are what each told the press and what restaurants have reported. Austria's competition authority, the Bundeswettbewerbsbehörde (BWB), opened an investigation into the delivery platforms in August 2026.
| Platform | They deliver | You deliver | Joining or monthly fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lieferando | 30% in total when its couriers deliver | About 13% on average; around 90% of restaurants take this package | No sign-up fee, according to its Austrian partner page |
| foodora (ex-Mjam) | Up to 30%; a Vienna restaurants' open letter said many pay 30–35% | Less than 30%, foodora says, but not how much | Reported €100 activation fee and €15 a month |
Both rates are reported, not published, so check your agreement. In August 2026 the BWB closed its market inquiry and opened an investigation into suspected abuse of a dominant position, citing exclusivity deals, narrow best-price clauses and penalty fees in the platforms' terms. Full breakdowns: Lieferando commission in Austria and foodora commission in Austria.
Worked example
A Vienna takeaway does 300 orders a month at an average of €25: €7,500 in sales. Here is what each channel costs in a month and a year.
| Channel | Fee | Total a month | A year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lieferando delivers (30%) | €2,250 | €2,250 | €27,000 |
| Lieferando, you deliver (13%) | €975 | €975 | €11,700 |
| foodora delivers (30%) | €2,250 + €15 service charge | €2,265 | €27,180 + €100 activation |
| Your own system (Menuthere Lite + Stripe standard EEA cards) | US$17 plan + about €188 card fees | about €188 + US$17 | about €2,256 + US$204 (or US$170 on yearly billing) |
Stripe's standard rate for EEA cards is 1.5% + €0.25, so a €25 order costs about €0.63, or roughly €188 across 300 orders. Commission paid to an app is gone for good; a card fee is a far smaller, fixed cost.
Austrian VAT (USt)
In Austria the standard VAT (Umsatzsteuer) rate is 20% and the reduced rate for food and restaurant services is 10%. Some drinks, including most alcohol, carry the 20% rate, so a single bill can mix the two. Menuthere lets each dish carry its own rate. The 20% rate also applies to any Menuthere app fee you're invoiced.
| Line | Price (VAT included) | VAT rate | VAT inside the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × schnitzel (food) | €22.00 | 10% | €2.00 |
| 2 × soft drink | €5.50 | 20% | €0.92 |
| Total | €27.50 | €2.92 |
In Menuthere, set the store rate to 10%, mark dishes Tax Inclusive and give drinks that are standard-rated a 20% rate. Menuthere doesn't add VAT to the delivery fee line, so set your delivery fee as a VAT-inclusive amount and ask your accountant how to record it. See tax and VAT settings.
How it works
Menuthere pulls your name, address and photos from your Google listing. Set the currency to EUR and the timezone to Vienna.
Upload a photo or PDF and the AI reads in the dishes and prices. Sizes, add-ons and sold-out marking are built in. Moving from GloriaFood? Import that menu directly; it closes on 30 April 2027.
Collection, delivery and dine-in table orders, all from one menu.
Cash or pay on collection on Free. Your own Stripe account for card payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay and EPS on Lite and above.
On your Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, flyers and receipts. Print the free QR codes for the counter and tables.
Each order rings on the partner app until someone accepts it, or switch on auto-accept. Tickets print to your kitchen printer.
Austrian rules
Allergen information. Under the Austrian Allergeninformationsverordnung, which implements the EU food-information rules (LMIV), you must give allergen information for food that isn't prepacked, including food sold for delivery or collection. It can be in writing or given orally with a written note of who to ask, but for online orders a written statement on the menu is the clean way to meet it. On Menuthere, tag the 14 allergens on each dish on every plan, including Free, and customers see them when they open the dish. Add a printed allergen sheet to delivery bags too: make one with the allergen chart maker.
Prices including VAT. Austrian price-display rules require consumer prices to be shown as the final gross amount, including VAT and any fixed extra charges. The price a customer sees on your ordering page must be the price they pay.
Cash register and receipts. Austria's Registrierkassenpflicht requires most businesses over the turnover thresholds to use a tamper-proof electronic cash register (Registrierkasse) and to give every customer a receipt (Belegerteilungspflicht). Online card orders still have to flow into your register and your accounts, so plan how Menuthere orders reach your till system and your bookkeeper.
No card surcharges. Under the EU payment services rules (PSD2), businesses can't add a surcharge for paying by standard consumer debit or credit card. Build card costs into your prices.
Card payments
Menuthere never touches your money. Stripe charges its own fee, with no setup or monthly fee on standard pricing, and Menuthere adds nothing on top. Stripe pays out to your own Austrian bank account. Currency conversion adds 2%, and a dispute costs €20.
| Method | Stripe Austria rate | Per €25 order | 300 orders a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard EEA cards | 1.5% + €0.25 | €0.63 | €187.50 |
| Premium EEA cards | 2.5% + €0.25 | €0.88 | €262.50 |
| UK and international cards | 3.25% + €0.25 | €1.06 | €318.75 |
| EPS (Austrian bank transfer) | 1.6% + €0.25 | €0.65 | €195.00 |
Most Austrian customers pay with Austrian-issued, standard EEA cards. EPS is an Austrian online bank-transfer method that Stripe supports; switch it on in your Stripe dashboard. Apple Pay and Google Pay settle at the underlying card rate. Confirm current rates on Stripe's Austrian pricing page.
