Two ways to sell the night
New Year's Eve is a fixed night with limited covers and a popular set menu. Menuthere covers the two things customers want to do ahead: pre-order food, and book a table.
Customers pick your NYE set menu or party platters, choose a collection or delivery slot, and pay up front. The order waits in your Prebookings list until it's time to cook.
Guests choose Dine-in, book a slot for the night, and pre-order the dishes you allow, such as a set menu. You can ask how many are coming, and you set the days, slots and notice.
Every order and booking is yours. Menuthere takes no cut. Card fees, where you take payment, go to your own payment gateway, not to us.
How it works
On Lite, with your menu already uploaded.
Add your set menu, party platters and any add-ons with sizes and photos. Decide which dishes customers can pre-order with a booking.
In Settings › Ordering › Prebooking settings, set collection, delivery or Dine-in slots for 31 December, how far ahead guests can book, the notice you need, and whether to ask party size on a table booking.
For a pre-ordered set menu, take card payment up front through your own gateway, or send a payment link. For a table, customers pay for the dishes they pre-order; the table itself has no separate deposit feature.
Open Share to copy your link, post it on Instagram and your Google listing, and print a QR code for the counter and your flyers. One link takes both pre-orders and bookings.
Pre-orders and bookings collect in the Prebookings tab with the next hour at the top. You get an alert one hour before each booked slot and again when it starts, and the partner app rings on every new order.
A worked example
A bistro offers a four-course New Year's Eve set menu, with 40 covers across two sittings. Guests book a Dine-in slot, choose their courses ahead, and pay for the set menu by card up front through the bistro's own Stripe account (on Lite). The kitchen sees the full count and every choice in the Prebookings list, so it preps the right number of each course and there are no surprises on the night.
The numbers below are an illustration to show how the money works, not a real bistro's figures. Menuthere takes 0% commission on all of it, and card fees go to the bistro's own gateway, not to us.
An illustration
40 set-menu covers at $75 each, paid by card up front. An example, not a quote; card fees are set by your gateway, not by Menuthere.
| Line | On Menuthere Lite | On a 30% marketplace |
|---|---|---|
| 40 covers at $75 | $3,000 | $3,000 |
| Platform commission | $0 (0%) | −$900 (30%) |
| Your plan | −$17 (one month of Lite) | $0 |
| Card fees | Set by your own gateway | Usually bundled into the cut |
| You keep (before card fees) | $2,983 | $2,100 |
Commission is the difference. A marketplace cut grows with every cover; Lite is a flat $17 a month however many New Year's Eve orders you take.
Good to know
Pre-orders and table booking are on Lite, not Free. On the Free plan customers order for as soon as possible. Pre-orders with a date and time, and table booking with pre-ordered dishes, start on Lite ($17 a month), which has a 14-day free trial: a card starts it and nothing is charged until the 14 days end. See pricing and pre-orders and table booking.
No deposit, no-show fee, table plan or waitlist yet. It is slot-based booking built into your menu, not a full reservation system. To protect a popular night, take card payment up front for the pre-ordered food (Lite and above, through your own gateway), or send a payment link.
Pick the right page for the rest of the season. Christmas pre-orders, the festive menu you run for weeks, or catering for large and office orders.
