Waiter phones, kitchen tablets and the customer screen (POS)

With a Windows till, waiters can take orders on their own phones over the shop's Wi-Fi, no internet needed: they sign in with the shop code and their staff PIN, pick a table and press Send to kitchen, and the KOT prints at the till. A second screen can face guests and show their bill as you add dishes.

Set up waiter phones

Step 1: Switch it on

In Settings › Dine-in & kitchen › Waiter phones and kitchen tablets, switch on Use phones and tablets. If Windows asks about private networks, press Allow.

Step 2: Add waiters

Add each waiter in Settings › Staff with a PIN. They use the same PIN as on the till.

Step 3: Open it on a phone

On a phone on the same Wi-Fi, scan the QR code under On a waiter's phone, or type the address shown.

Step 4: Sign in

Type the 6-digit Shop code, tap your name and type your PIN.

  • Waiters see the tables (Free or Running with the total and time), add dishes with sizes, options, a note and the number of guests, then Review & send › Send to kitchen.
  • The order goes onto that table on the till and the KOT prints there. No payment or bill on the phone.
  • A table whose bill is printed, or that is open on the till right now, can't be changed from a phone.
  • New code changes the shop code; every phone signs in again. Signed in now lists who is on.
  • A phone stays signed in for 14 hours. Five wrong tries lock that phone out for a minute.

Kitchen tablet

On a tablet on the same Wi-Fi, open the address under On a kitchen tablet and type the shop code. It shows the kitchen screen.

Customer screen

Step 1: Connect a second screen

Plug a monitor into the till PC, facing the counter.

Step 2: Open it

In Settings › Layout & photos › Customer screen, pick the screen and press Open customer screen.

Guests see Welcome and your store's name, then each dish as you add it, the discount, charges, tax and Total, and Thank you! after the bill.

Questions

Do waiter phones need the internet?
No, only the shop's Wi-Fi, with the phones and the till on the same network.
Is this the captain app?
No. The captain app works with your dashboard. Waiter phones work with the POS till, even with no internet.
