Maps: OpenStreetMap or your Google key
Your customers pick their delivery address on a map. By default that map is OpenStreetMap, which is free. If you prefer Google Maps, paste your own Google Maps API key and Google bills your Google Cloud account. If the key stops working, customers fall back to OpenStreetMap.

Choose your map
Step 1: Open the Maps card
Go to Settings → Integrations and find Maps. A tag shows what you use now, such as OpenStreetMap · Free.
In the dashboardSettingsIntegrationsMaps
Step 2: Pick Google Maps if you want it
Choose Google Maps. Open How to get a key for the steps. In short: create a Google Cloud project with billing on, enable Maps JavaScript API, Places API (New) and Geocoding API, and create an API key restricted to websites that include menuthere.com and your own domain.
Step 3: Paste the key and save
Paste it into Google Maps API key (it starts with AIza and is 39 characters long) and press Save. The key is stored encrypted and only its last four characters are shown afterwards.
Keys and what to expect
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Switch back to OpenStreetMap | Saving switches your storefront over. Your Google key is kept, so you can switch back any time. |
| Replace a key | Paste a new one into Replace key. |
| Remove your key | Press Remove key and confirm. The key is deleted and your maps switch to OpenStreetMap. |
| Google rejects the key | The tag shows Key not working and customers see OpenStreetMap, so they can still order. |
| A key set up for you by Menuthere | The card says Menuthere's key. Paste your own to replace it. |
