Set up a free offline POS (Start free)

Press Start free, fill in Set up your store, check your email with a 6-digit code, and create the manager PIN. The menu and bills stay on this device, and the POS works with or without internet from then on.

Set it up

Step 1: Press Start free

On the first screen, Free POS for your restaurant, press Start free. The button Create a $10 POS account opens the same setup; you only pay if you later choose to save online.

Step 2: Set up your store

Type the Store name. Pick your Country: it sets your currency, time zone, tax and the payment buttons (Cash, UPI and Card in India; Cash and Card elsewhere). Add a Phone and Your logo if you want them printed on bills.

Step 3: Choose how to start the menu

Under Start with, pick Restaurant menu (starters, mains, drinks), Café menu (hot and cold drinks, snacks) or Empty menu. You change names and prices later. Then press Open my POS.

Step 4: Add your email

On One last step: your email, type your email and press Send code. Type the Code from your email and Choose a password (6 or more characters), then press Open my POS. You sign in with this email and password on any computer.

Step 5: Create the manager PIN

On Set up this till, type the Manager's name and a PIN (4–6 digits) twice, then press Create manager PIN. Managers approve voids, big discounts, opening the drawer without a sale, closing a shift, settings and stock.

Step 6: Open a shift and pick your screen

Type the Opening cash (float) in the drawer and press Open shift. Then pick a billing screen on How do you want to bill? and press Use this layout (or Later). A short tour shows you around.

What a free store has

  • Six tables to start with. Change the number in Menu › Store details › Tables.
  • Bill numbers that start at 123 and keep counting.
  • Every screen: billing, tables, kitchen screen, stock, customers, shifts and reports.
  • Your menu, bills and customers saved only on this device. Nothing is sent to a server.

What to do next

Questions

Why does it need my email?
To sign in on another computer, to reset a forgotten manager PIN, and so we can help you. It is free, and checking it needs the internet once.
Can I skip the email?
Only when the server can't create accounts at that moment. Then Continue for now appears and you're asked again the next time the app opens.
I already use Menuthere. Should I start free?
No. Press Sign in with your dashboard email and password instead, so your menu comes from the dashboard. See Connect the POS to your Menuthere store.
