Public API: overview and keys
The Menuthere API lets your own POS or software act on your store. Menuthere support creates a key for you with access to Orders, WhatsApp or both, and your software calls the endpoints with it. A key can only ever see and change your own data.

Create and manage keys
Step 1: Ask Menuthere support for a key
API keys are not in the dashboard yet, so Menuthere support creates them. Tell support what the key is for, such as “Billing POS”.
Step 2: Choose its access
A key with Orders access can update the status of your orders. One with WhatsApp access can send WhatsApp templates. Ask only for what your software needs.
Step 3: Save the key straight away
A key is shown once, when it is created. Menuthere keeps only a fingerprint, so it cannot be shown again. Put it in your software's settings at once. If you lose it, ask support to revoke it and make another.
Using a key
Send the key as Authorization: Bearer ck_live_… from your server. Never put it in a browser page or a mobile app, because anyone who reads it can change your orders. A one-line example:

| Status | Error | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 401 | missing_api_key, invalid_api_key | No key sent, or the key is wrong or revoked. |
| 403 | scope_denied | The key does not have the access this endpoint needs. |
| 429 | rate_limited | Too many requests this minute. Each key defaults to 120 a minute. |
