How your menu is organised
Your menu is built from categories and dishes. A category can hold subcategories, and a dish can have sizes and add-on groups. Everything is managed from one screen, Menu.
Menus are two levels deep at most. A category can hold subcategories, and a subcategory cannot hold another one. A dish sits in exactly one category or subcategory.

The pieces of a menu

Where each piece is set
- Categories: press Add Category on the Menu screen. See Add a category or subcategory.
- Subcategories: created from a dish's Category field.
- Dishes: press Add Item. See Add and edit a dish.
- Sizes and add-ons: open a dish and use Add variant or Add addons. See Sizes and portions and Add-ons and choices.
Good to knowA category that holds subcategories can still hold dishes of its own. They show above its subcategories. Switching a category Off marks every dish in it as unavailable.
Questions
Can a dish be in two categories?
No. The dish editor has one Category field. File the dish where customers are most likely to look for it.
How many levels can I nest?
Two. A category can have subcategories, and a subcategory cannot have its own. Use a clear category name and a few subcategories instead.
Does the order I add things in matter?
No. You can change the order of categories and dishes at any time. See Reorder categories and dishes.
