Payment options for each order type
Once online payments are on, you choose for each order type whether customers can pay online, pay in cash, or both. Delivery, takeaway and dine-in each have their own pair of switches, so you can ask for payment up front on delivery and still take cash at the table.

Set the options
Step 1: Open Payment Methods
Go to Settings → Payments & tax and stay on Payment Methods. Cash payments are always on for the store. The table Payment options by order type shows once online payment is on.

Step 2: Switch Online and Cash for each order type
In Payment options by order type, each row has an Online switch and a Cash switch. Turn off Cash on Delivery to take payment only online, or turn off Online on Dine-in to take cash at the table.

Step 3: Save, then check checkout
Press Save. At checkout a customer sees Pay online (Cards, UPI & Netbanking), and Cash on delivery for delivery or Pay at store for other orders. When only one is offered, the choice is not shown.
Take dine-in payment after the meal
Under the Dine-in row there is a sub-switch, Ask payment after order complete. It shows when Online is on for Dine-in. Turn it on and dine-in orders go in without paying, so the kitchen gets them straight away.
- The order reads Payment due in red on the order page, on the menu and on the order in your dashboard.
- Once the order is Completed, the customer gets a Pay now button on your website for 1 hour. Paying there marks the order paid and leaves its status as it is.
- While the meal is still going, the bill only reads Payment due, with no Pay now button.
- If they have not paid within the hour, Payment due is removed from your website. Collect it at the counter. It stays as Payment due in your dashboard until you mark it paid. See Record how an order was paid.
- Stores connected to Petpooja can't use it. The switch shows Not with Petpooja, and dine-in orders still pay at checkout.
Rules to know
- An order type with neither switch on can't be checked out, so the storefront falls back to cash instead of leaving the customer stuck. A row like that shows No way to pay.
- A type you have switched off under Settings → Ordering → Order types shows Not offered here. Its switches keep their values.
- Orders from a table QR follow the Dine-in row.
- Online is only offered when a payment gateway is connected and working.
- If you route deliveries by distance, a distance band can narrow these choices for that distance. See Route deliveries by distance.
