How Google sees your store
Search engines such as Google and Bing get a plain, readable version of your store: your store name as the one heading, every visible dish with its price, grouped by category. Customers still get the normal ordering page. The page title and description are written for you from your store details.
- Updated
What search engines read
- One heading. Your store name is the page's main heading.
- Every visible dish. Dishes show with descriptions and prices, grouped by category. Dishes and categories that are hidden, scheduled off or out of stock follow the same rules customers see.
- Prices follow your setting. If you hide prices on your menu, the page shows none.
- Your title. It reads Menu of Your Store - Place, kept to about 60 characters so search results don't cut it off. The place comes from your location, district and country.
- Your description. It is made from your store name and place, in 110 to 160 characters, and mentions ordering online when your store takes orders.
Search engines and AI crawlers get this version. Customers, and link previews in WhatsApp and Instagram, get the normal store.
What is and is not listed
| Page | Listed in search? |
|---|---|
| Your store at menuthere.com/your-username | Yes. It is the preferred address. On a custom domain, the domain's front page is the preferred address instead. |
| Your table QR codes | They point search engines back to your store page, so they do not compete with it. |
| Legal pages, customer profile and My Orders | No. They are marked so search engines skip them. |
| Test and demo stores | No. Stores whose link name starts with test, sample or dummy or ends in test or demo (with or without numbers), or whose store name contains one of those words, are kept out of search and the sitemap. |
Good to knowMenuthere prepares your page for search engines, but search engines decide what to show and where. Complete dishes, descriptions and a correct store name, address and phone make your page easier to read. A Google Business Profile helps people find you in maps. See Google Business Profile.
Questions
Can I edit my title and description?
They are written for you from your store name and location. Keep your store details correct and they update by themselves.
Will a custom domain help?
With a custom domain, your domain's front page is the preferred address for your store. See Use your own domain.
My store name has the word demo in it.
Stores with test, demo, sample or dummy as a word in the name are treated as test stores and left out of search. Change the name if it is a real store.
