The contact number at checkout
On delivery and takeaway orders the checkout asks for a contact number. It is the number a rider calls, it is remembered for the customer's next order, and it shows at the top of the customer card on the order.

What the customer sees
Step 1: The field is prefilled
A signed-in customer sees Contact number with your country code beside it. It starts with the number they saved last time, or the number they logged in with.
Step 2: They can change it
The customer can type another number, for example a family member's. The number is checked against your country's phone length, and the order can't be placed until it is valid.
Step 3: It is saved for next time
After the order is placed, the number is kept on the customer's account and on that device, so the next checkout is already filled in.
Where you see it and what it is used for
- On the order, the customer card shows the contact number first, with Call beside it.
- When it differs from the number the customer ordered under, that number shows below it as WhatsApp number.
- Menuthere gives the contact number to a courier service when it books a rider for the order.
- WhatsApp messages, loyalty points and the customer list keep using the number the customer ordered under.
