Tronc calculator (UK)
The tronc calculator splits a pot of tips and service charge between the people in your scheme, to the penny. Choose points × hours, hours only, an equal split or role pools. It shows the payout deadline and the National Insurance an independent tronc can save, and makes a payout record to sign and keep.

Split the pot
Open the tronc calculator. It is free, needs no sign-up and works on a phone.
Step 1: Add up the pot
Under 1. The pot type the Card tips (£), Cash tips pooled (£), Service charge (£) and Other tips, e.g. app tips (£). Pick the Month the tips were received: the calculator works out the date you must pay by.
Step 2: List the team
Under 2. The team add each person with a Role and Hours worked. Switch off In the scheme for anyone left out. Import hours takes a pasted list, one person a line: name, role, hours.
Step 3: Choose how to split it
Under 3. How to split it pick Points × hours, Hours only, Equal split or Role pools. Points for each role opens the example points; change them to your tipping policy's. For role pools, set each pool's percentage so they add up to 100%.
Step 4: Say who decides
Under Who decides the split? pick Independent troncmaster, Employer or manager acting for the employer or Someone outside the business. This changes only the National Insurance note.
Save the payout record
Under Save the payout sheet press Download PDF to print for the A4 Tronc distribution record with signature lines for the troncmaster, or Download Excel or Download CSV for your payroll. Shares always add up to the pot exactly.
